The role
Due to the firm’s already excellent growth and reputation, we are looking for a full-time Paralegal to join our Criminal Team.
The Applicant must have an interest in Criminal Law.
You will be assisting and supporting senior members of the Criminal Department on a varied case load which includes anything from theft to murder.
You will receive support from our experienced solicitors and will benefit from the combined knowledge and experience of the firm’s Criminal Team.
The role will be office-based, Monday to Friday from 9am until 5.30pm and you will be expected to work on an out our hours rota representing clients during Police Station interviews. Such attendance will be paid at an overtime rate.
Your duties will include and not be limited to:
- Provide administrative assistance
- Answering and responding to new enquiry calls
- Advising clients at the Police Station (once qualified, if not already)
- Obtaining detailed instructions from clients
- Drafting correspondence such as Briefs to Counsel, Witness Statements, attendance notes, letters and other legal documents to a high standard
- Providing advice to clients (subject to supervision)
- Assisting fee-earners with trial preparation
- Undertake legal research
Skills and experience
- Police Station Accreditation is desirable but not essential
- Driving licence and access to own transport as you will be required to attend Police Stations
- Paralegal experience within an office setting
- A confident and robust personality
- Excellent client engagement and IT skills
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Be able to work towards strict deadlines
