More lawyers at McCormicks Solicitors of Harrogate can now help people who are interviewed under caution following the admittance of Trainee Solicitor Suzie Godden as an accredited police station representative.

The accreditation not only allows Suzie to advise those interviewed at the police station for the most serious offences but also those interviewed by other bodies, such as the Department for Work and Pensions, HMRC or the Environment Agency.

The accreditation scheme covers publicly-funded criminal defence work and accredited representatives are usually called to a police station to advise and assist people who would otherwise have no legal representation.

Suzie joined McCormicks as part of the Crime and Fraud department in 2024 and was granted a training contract early last year.

Department head Partner Peter Minnikin said: “Accreditation is a key stage in any criminal practitioner’s career and is both an important new skill for both Suzie and an asset to our clients.“
