Covid-19 Employment Advice

These are difficult times for businesses and employers and we want to give what support we can. We have already sent out a free Homeworking Policy. In view of recent developments we are pleased to offer our clients and contacts free initial telephone employment advice in relation to the Covid-19 pandemic so you can understand your options.

Pausing, taking stock and considering your options is important. The Government has introduced support measures, more may follow.

Your contract of employment may provide for lay-off and/or short-time working. Even if these are not in place, employees may agree a period of unpaid leave or reduced/flexible hours. They may also agree to take annual holiday and employers can give notice in relation to this.

Employers still have health and safety obligations to employees and those visiting premises. If employees are ill and/or self-isolating then there is an entitlement to SSP/contractual sick pay.

There are options for all businesses before considering redundancy. Communication with your workforce is key. If you are aware of any other business which may benefit from some free initial advice, then please ask them to call us.

Your point of contact is Iain Jenkins on 01423 537645 or email at i.jenkins@mccormicks-solicitors.com.

Finally, we are open for business as usual and all of our departments are functioning normally.

We hope everyone stays safe during these difficult times.
